Show Notes
In this new episode of Lyme and Beyond, we have our first guest: Sami, and she shares her extensive journey battling Lyme disease, starting from an undiagnosed bite she believes occurred in central Wisconsin. Sami delves into her initial misdiagnosis of mono and subsequent hospitalization, which eventually led to an array of worsening symptoms over a decade. Searching for answers, she faced dismissive attitudes from healthcare professionals who often attributed her condition to depression, until finally a standard test confirmed Lyme disease. Sami discusses the transformative treatment she underwent at Clinic St. George in Germany, including whole body hyperthermia, and how it drastically reduced her symptoms from 54 to 8. Despite overcoming Lyme disease, she continues to battle mold issues but remains optimistic due to recent improvements.
Now a licensed mental health therapist and certified brain spotting practitioner, Sami has founded Lyme Warriors, where she offers health consulting and nervous system regulation groups to support others in the Lyme community. This episode is a testament to perseverance, the importance of self-advocacy in the face of chronic illness, and the power of turning personal trials into advocacy and support for others.
